Where cremation is the chosen option, it is a requirement that it had been known that the deceased had expressed an interest in cremation being their choice. The paperwork required for a cremation is a little more involved and requires the doctor who has issued the Medical Certificate Cause of Death (MCCD) to also be made aware that a cremation service is to be conducted. This same doctor is then requested to issue an Attending Practitioner’s Cremation Certificate (APCC) accompanying the MCCD they have issued.
